Food, grain and cold storage

FOR FOOD AND AGRICULTURAL PROCESSING

Food and agricultural plants run continuous electrical work: line rebuilds, motor replacements, washdown area upgrades and controls changes. Each one leaves a remainder of cable that is too specific to resell locally and too valuable to throw away.

What accumulates in these plants

  • Washdown-rated and specialty-jacketed cable from sanitary areas
  • Motor feeder, tray and VFD cable from line changes
  • Control and instrumentation cable from process upgrades
  • Building wire and XHHW from panel and feeder work
  • Flexible cord from portable equipment
  • Grain handling and elevator wiring after a capacity change
  • Cold storage and refrigeration control cable

Grain handling and agricultural processing

Grain elevators, feed mills and processing plants are spread across Minnesota, and their electrical work is often done by a small number of contractors who leave material on site for the next project.

Cable that sits in an elevator leg or a mill for years is dusty and sometimes wet, which should be photographed as found. That is a normal condition for this sector and it does not automatically rule a lot out.

Cold storage and washdown areas

Cold storage rooms and washdown areas use cable selected for moisture and temperature. Once a room is reconfigured, the remaining cable is usually a partial reel with a specific jacket rating.

State the jacket rating and where it was installed. A cable rated for washdown is a different product from standard tray cable, and the print on the jacket is the evidence.

Scheduling around production

Most plants cannot stop for a pickup. Tell us the window that works, whether an escort is required, and where the material can be staged so a truck can load without entering production areas.

A short, well-planned load at a dock is usually easier than a large one spread across the plant.

FAQ

Questions we get from sellers

Do you buy cable stored in a wet or washdown area?

Yes, with the condition photographed. Moisture exposure affects the quote but does not automatically disqualify a reel.

Can material be staged at a loading dock before pickup?

That is the preferred arrangement. Staging keeps the truck out of production areas and shortens the visit.

Do you buy from grain elevators and feed mills?

Yes. These are typical loads, often a mix of building wire, control cable and portable cord.

Send your wire details and photos

Fill in what you know and skip what you do not. Photos of the reel faces, cable tags and jacket printing do more for an accurate quote than a long description.

  • Tell us the metal, gauge or MCM, voltage and conductor count.
  • Give footage, reel count, coil count or weight if it is known.
  • Send photos of reel faces, tags, jacket legends and the full pile.
  • Note dock, forklift or loading limits so pickup goes smoothly.

Submissions go to saleselectricalbuyers@gmail.com with your photos attached. You will see a confirmation page once the form is sent. Every lot is reviewed on its details and photos; sending them is not a commitment to sell.

Sitting on reels you will not use?

Send the footage, the voltage and a few photos. We review the inventory, talk pricing and logistics, and arrange pickup or shipping when we agree.
