What we buy
- 5kV, 8kV, 15kV, 25kV, 35kV and 69kV and above cable
- EPR and XLPE insulation systems
- Shielded cable with tape shield, wire shield or drain wires
- Concentric neutral and jacketed concentric neutral constructions
- URD, aerial and duct-rated medium-voltage cable
- #2 through 1000 MCM, copper and aluminum
- Full reels and partial reels with documented remaining length
This is the category where documentation matters most. Reel tags, test reports, factory length markings and the jacket print all support a quote, and a partial reel without a reliable length is harder to place.
What to send for a medium-voltage quote
Voltage class, conductor size and metal, insulation type, shield type, jacket type and footage. Add the manufacturer and the reel tag number if it is legible. If the cable has been cut, say whether the end is sealed and photograph it.

Availability of medium and high voltage cable varies. Send details before assuming a lot will be accepted.
Utility and plant projects
Minnesota utilities, co-ops, industrial plants and data centers all hold medium-voltage inventory. When a project is deferred, the cable is often already on site and stored on reels that take up a lane in the yard.
Cancelled and deferred projects are the most common source of this material, and they usually come with paperwork, which helps.
Handling and transport
Medium-voltage reels are heavy and need proper blocking, a forklift or a crane, and a trailer that can carry the weight. Send the reel diameters and an estimate of the weight so the pickup is planned correctly.
If the reel has been stored outdoors for years, photograph the jacketing. Sun exposure on the outer jacket is normal; deep cracking is not.
FAQ
Questions we get from sellers
Do you buy 15kV cable with a cut end?
Sometimes. A cut end needs to be described and photographed, and the remaining footage needs to be supportable. Sealed ends and documented lengths are easier to place.
Is 69kV and above cable in scope?
It is reviewed when it is available, but high-voltage cable is uncommon and each lot is handled individually. Send the details first.
Do you need test reports?
They help. Factory length markings and reel tags are the minimum; test reports and project documentation support a stronger quote.
