Data centers, telecom and power

FOR DATA CENTERS, TELECOM AND UTILITIES

Data center and utility work is planned years ahead, bought in bulk and installed in phases. When a phase is deferred or a design changes, cable is already on site, already paid for, and stored on reels that take up floor space or yard space.

What accumulates in these facilities

  • Cat 5e, Cat 6 and Cat 6A in boxes and partial boxes after a cabling standard change
  • Coax and communication cable from camera and signal work
  • Control and instrumentation cable from monitoring and switchgear projects
  • Tray cable and TC-ER from power distribution
  • Medium-voltage cable from substation, switchgear and feeder projects
  • Grounding conductor and bare copper from grounding grid work
  • Temporary power cord from construction phases

Utilities, co-ops and generation

Utilities and co-ops hold medium-voltage inventory, grounding conductor and service cable. Generation operators hold control cable, instrumentation and motor feeder cable from outage work.

This material usually comes with documentation: reel tags, factory lengths, sometimes test reports. That documentation is what makes a medium-voltage reel quotable with confidence.

Why documentation matters here

Data center and utility cable

Products
Cat 6, coax, control, tray, medium voltage, grounding
Voltage
Low voltage through 69kV and above
Sizes
#22 through 1000 MCM
Records
Reel tag, factory length, test report, project spec
Quantity
Box count, reel count, footage
Condition
Sealed, partial, cut end, stored outdoors
Access
Loading dock, secured yard, escort required

Medium and high voltage lots are reviewed on their documentation as well as their photos.

Security and access

Data centers and utility yards have access control. Tell us what is required: background checks, escorted access, appointment windows, dock availability and whether a trailer can be staged on site.

Planning that in advance is the difference between a smooth pickup and a wasted trip.

FAQ

Questions we get from sellers

Do you buy boxes of Cat 6 left from a cabling project?

Yes, sealed and partial boxes are both quotable. State the category rating and the remaining footage.

Is medium-voltage cable from a deferred project of interest?

Yes, particularly with reel tags and documented lengths. Send the details and photos before moving it.

Do you buy grounding conductor from a grid project?

Yes. Bare copper grounding conductor is quoted by weight and condition.

Send your wire details and photos

Fill in what you know and skip what you do not. Photos of the reel faces, cable tags and jacket printing do more for an accurate quote than a long description.

  • Tell us the metal, gauge or MCM, voltage and conductor count.
  • Give footage, reel count, coil count or weight if it is known.
  • Send photos of reel faces, tags, jacket legends and the full pile.
  • Note dock, forklift or loading limits so pickup goes smoothly.

Add up to 10 MB total across all photos. Reel faces, cable tags, jacket printing and the whole pile are the most useful shots.

Submissions go to saleselectricalbuyers@gmail.com with your photos attached. You will see a confirmation page once the form is sent. Every lot is reviewed on its details and photos; sending them is not a commitment to sell.

Sitting on reels you will not use?

Send the footage, the voltage and a few photos. We review the inventory, talk pricing and logistics, and arrange pickup or shipping when we agree.
